Definition:
Two events are independent if the outcome of one event does not affect the outcome of the other event. The first event does not influence the results of the second event.
Examples:
If we flip a coin twice, each flip is independent because the coin has no memory of what happened previously.
If we flip a coin and then roll a die, these events are independent because one does not influence the other
If we draw a card from a deck, replace the card, then draw again, the two cards are independent.
If we draw a card from a deck, leave is out, then draw again these events are notindependent. Not replacing the card changes the composition of the deck, and therefore all of the probabilities will be different.
