Definition:
The mean of a set of data is the sum of the data values, divided by the number of data values. The mean is commonly known as the average, and is a measure of the center of a data set.
Examples:
The data set 1,2,4,5,8,10 is a list of six values. We add them and then divide by six to obtain a mean of (1+2+4+5+8+10)/6 = 5.
